I am contacting you to request your assistance in dealing with what can be described as a tyranny of government under the supervision of Mr. Patrick Vecchio who has been in power for over 38 years at the Town of Smithtown in the Suffolk County of New York. The residents of my community are experiencing literally, physical assault by constant exposure to massive artificial environmental noise, administered through a form of wireless technology, consisting of loud white noise, engines, aircraft and traffic noise, occurring at all hours of the day. The Department of Transportation has confirmed in writing, this noise is not generated by traffic.
Our homes and lives are being invaded and bulldozed by the abuse of power displayed by town officials and the influence of powerful businesses at the largest industrial park on the east coast, the Hauppauge Industrial Park. The town of Smithtown government is plagued by cronyism and discrimination, partial to benefiting these corporations, stripping the homeowners neighboring this park, of all rights.
We have owned our home for over 16 years, however, several businesses at the Hauppauge Industrial Park, operations on Mall Drive, which back upon our homes, are completely disregarding code ordinances set for Non-nuisance industries. These operations have become extremely loud since the beginning of 2014, coincidentally when the Town of Smithtown adopted the proposal to create an overlay district, which was done without scoping. It seems, this action by the town, has given free reign to these businesses to completely disregard their neighbors. These businesses were granted permission to operate in proximity to these residences contingent upon not extending their operations beyond the limits of their property, as the light industrial zone stipulates.
This situation has become progressively more oppressive, particularly, when the environmental noise decibels are increased after calling Public Safety to report violations, which I have filmed. Please see Youtube links: The following links are a small sample of how the Town of Smithtown's Public Safety Department is handling a complain involving a business extending their operations beyond their property on a Saturday:
It appears the reinforcement of code ordinances is to add more noise, so that to mask these loud operations, making our environment unbearable. The actions of the Smithtown Officials are oppressive, and abusive infringing upon our human and civil liberty rights.
Please, do not let this behavior be acceptable, stop this abuse and tyranny; this is a path to the destruction of our Democracy
Thank you for your attention and any cooperation you can provide.
